Corseting
In the 19th century, corsets were a popular fashion accessory for women, and they were designed to cinch in the waist and create a curvy silhouette. However, many women took this to extreme lengths and laced their corsets so tightly that it caused serious health problems.

One of the most extreme consequences of tight-lacing was broken ribs. When a corset is laced tightly enough, it can put so much pressure on the ribcage that the bones actually fracture. This could lead to chronic pain, difficulty breathing, and even organ damage. Doesn’t seem worth it, in my opinion!
